I've never been... Am honesty considering attending this year but am a little hesitant. I will have to cancel some cleaning jobs that I've already booked... What do you think? Should I go? How many years have u gone? I'm unsure of how to participate.

To say it is an incredible experience would be an understatement, and to describe it with words seems pointless, but to me, Burning Man is an expedition into self-reliance and personal responsibility. Leave no trace and pack-it-in, pack-it-out. It is a pirate circus carnival dreamscape for seven days in a ~960 acre wonderland of music, art installations, fabricated mutant vehicles that run on fire, light shows, desert wandering, one of a kind experiences, and gifting. I've seen double rainbows, stumbled into a grilled cheese camp, shot a flame thrower, and met some amazing people there. This will be my third year going, but the first year I'll be camping in a first come first serve spot. I've usually been with theme camps which means you have a reserved location and an official Black Rock City address.

You book jobs many months in advance! Keep in mind a ticket to BMan is around $300 and the preparations to getting there are similar, i.e food, water, booze/drugs (if that's what you're in to), costuming or props, gas to get there, etc. So the whole trip could run you around $500 or so for 7 days. Weigh that against what you'd make cleaning...

That being said, don't let it deter you from going. If you are seriously interested, it's always better to go with people, and you could always pitch a tent with the group I'll be up there with. Also, you could carpool with us, saving on gas if you wanted.

Participation is definitely key, and while i don't know you, it seems like you have an open mind enough to be within that world once in the mix. We have shade, music, refregeration (solar powered!) and preparations in order for the most part, so if you wanted to come with, you'd be more than welcome.
